We call for Ceasefire, Justice, and International Cooperation for Peace in Palestine and Israel

We express our deepest grief for the loss of thousands of innocent lives through the blockade and sustained military violence in Palestine. Our hearts are also with the Israeli civilians and families whose loved ones have been killed, including in the attacks by Hamas. We join the calls for an immediate ceasefire, an arms embargo, respect for international humanitarian and human rights laws, the release of all hostages, the provision of humanitarian aid and supplies, and an end to the illegal occupation and air, land and sea blockade of Gaza.

As a network committed to decolonisation, justice, equity, international cooperation and freedom, we strongly oppose all forms of discrimination, military occupation, racism, violence and genocide, and remain steadfast in our defence of fundamental human rights and the right of peoples to self-determination, freedom and liberation. We join the call for peace, justice, and safety, where all human rights are respected without distinction.

Our work is motivated by our deep commitment to climate and social justice, and the certainty that this can only be achieved if all human rights are upheld and protected for all without discrimination. We recognize that many groups inside and outside our network are better placed to comment on this issue due to years of in-depth work on the issue, but we have chosen not to remain silent at this critical moment given this commitment.

We advocate for international cooperation, dialogue and diplomacy in order to build stable and lasting peace in the region and equal human dignity for all. We believe that collective action, non-violence, and international cooperation taking into account historic injustices are some of our most powerful tools to bring about a lasting peace. We acknowledge that achieving this requires confronting Israel's prolonged oppression of the Palestinian population, including its territorial occupation, decades of fragmentation, segregation, discrimination, and deprivation, and the crime against humanity of apartheid.

Indiscriminate attacks and targeting of civilians is a war crime, and there must be accountability for any and all actors for crimes violating international humanitarian and human rights laws and conventions, including the Geneva Conventions.

We express our unwavering opposition to the rise of Islamophobia and anti-Semitism globally, and firmly believe that the strength of people united is our most potent resource to prevent this ongoing calamity.

We urge leaders to act in line with the principles of international law, justice and universal human rights, and to apply pressure to end the blockade of Gaza, end apartheid, and act on the calls of citizens from across the world including Palestinians and Jews, who have taken to the streets, demanding an immediate ceasefire.
