Fossil Free Amazon Assembly

Fossil Free Amazon Assembly

We continue to contribute to the collective and territorial construction of the political proposal for an Amazon Free of Fossil Fuels and Extractivism.

Taking into account the experiences of resistance of indigenous peoples, nationalities and organizations against oil and gas extractivism, made visible through various spaces of dialogue held since 2023 in the framework of the summit of presidents for the Amazon, we have initiated a process of collective construction of a political proposal that gathers demands and proposals from the indigenous peoples with the objective of declaring the Amazon a territory free of fossil fuels, from and for the territories. The first assembly took place in Bolivia at FOSPA, and the second in Ecuador during the International Summit for Yasuni. The third assembly will take place in Cali on October 28th!
