For decades, fossil fuel companies had strictly denied climate change despite their own scientists having warned them of the harm caused by burning fossil fuels. Today, these tactics have switched to “discourses of delay”, downplaying the severity of the climate crisis and overstating their progress toward addressing climate change.
Fossil fuel companies are pumping hundreds of millions into advertising and sponsorship in a last-ditch attempt to stay afloat but these greenwashing and manipulation tactics cannot have a platform in our cities. They are harmful and misleading and attempt to resuscitate the social license of the fossil fuel industry.
Join us to learn about the dangerous role of fossil fuels ads in driving the climate crisis and hear from grassroots campaigns in Amsterdam and across Europe to ban fossil fuel advertising by law.
