Press conference: Launch of The Journey Fund for Just Transition Investments

As global leaders gather at COP30, and Colombia emerges as a frontrunner in turning climate ambition into concrete action, private capital and investors are now mobilising to support the country’s commitments to phase out fossil fuels — advancing the “roadmap to end fossil fuel dependence” highlighted by President Lula.
The Journey Fund — an innovative fund that links governments’ fossil fuel phase-out commitments with investing expertise to drive attractive returns and build regenerative, post-fossil economies — will be officially presented at the Colombia Pavilion, following its global launch at the Global Citizen Festival Amazônia.
The Fund will announce its first pilot in Colombia, developed with BONUS Investment Bank Colombia, Fundación Avina, FENOGE, FDN, and APC-Colombia, including renewable energy projects in the Amazon that will provide solar access to 50,000 people and avert 38,000 tons of CO2 annually.
The session will also unveil the USD 200 million fundraising campaign for The Journey Fund – Latin America; formalize new MoUs between public institutions and private partners; and highlight Colombia’s leadership in aligning ambitious climate policy with investable projects. Designed as a collective blended-finance platform—connecting banks, philanthropy, investors, and government—the Fund aims to mobilize capital for just transition efforts across the Global South, with plans to expand to Africa and SIDS within four years.
