Edinburgh has joined six UK towns and cities in endorsing the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty, as the national government continues to approve new oil and gas projects. While Prime Minister Boris Johnson continues to fail to address the primary cause of the climate crisis — fossil fuels — cities are stepping up and taking action into their own hands.

As Macron’s climate credentials are being questioned and tested, cities across the country of France are losing patience and making their own demands for real, intentional moves to tackle the biggest driver of the climate crisis - fossil fuels - by endorsing the Fossil Fuel Non-Proliferation Treaty. 

Although the climate talks in Glasgow left many of the promises by rich countries unfulfilled. The mention of fossil fuels, oil, gas and coal production has risen in priority on the global climate stage with many hoping it will rightly dominate discussions in Sharm El-Sheikh at COP27, which will be a COP on African soil.
